WMS Industries Inc. designs, manufactures and markets gaming machines and video lottery terminals (VLTs). The Company's gaming machines feature graphics, digital sound and engaging game themes, and most incorporate secondary bonus rounds. Some of its games use licensed brands, such as MONOPOLY, HOLLYWOOD SQUARES, MEN IN BLACK, and, most importantly, STAR TREK. The Company conducts its gaming machine business through its subsidiary, WMS Gaming Inc. (WMS Gaming), which markets its products under the WMS Gaming trademark. The products it offers for sale consist of multi-coin, multi-line video gaming machines and some mechanical reel-spinning slot machines. 1974: WMS Industries formed under the name Williams Electronics, Inc. and succeeded to the amusement game business that had been conducted for almost 30 years prior to 1974 by its predecessors 1991: WMS Gaming enters the video lottery terminal market 1997: WMS introduces its most successful slot machine, Reel Em In 1999: WMS introduced the first of its participation games, a series of four MONOPOLY themed gaming machines 2000: WMS Industries stops making pinball machines and video games and concentrates on VLTs and slot machines 2001: WMS starts developing games in Australia, distributing them under its cross-license agreement with Stargames 2004: WMS launches its first proprietary wide-area progress (WAP) system in Nevada, Native American casinos, and Colorado 2004: WMS opens an office in the United Kingdom 2005: WMS rolls out its WAP system in Mississippi, New Jersey, and Arizona 2005: WMS entered into a wide-ranging technology transfer agreement with Cyberscan Technology Inc. 2006: WMS Industries Completes Acquisition of Orion Gaming 2008: New, Innovative STAR TREK(TM) Gaming Machine introduced. 2013: Scientfic Games acquires WMS |
