2016 Inductee John Acres Industry Leader
John Acres is the inventor of the first player tracking system, as well as progressives and bonusing games that greatly define today’s gaming experience. Acres has founded four companies. Electronic Data Technologies (1981) invented electronic player tracking through which casinos could measure individual player spend and prove incentives to increase play. MIkohn (1985) created progressive jackpot systems that increased play on slot machines in casinos. Acres Gaming (1992) innovated with loyalty and bonus systems that caused players to gamble more frequently. Acres 4.0 (2009) serves the casino and resort industries with solutions that increase customer spend while reducing operational costs.
